Michigan State University has used D2L Brightspace as its centrally-supported Learning Management System since July 2012. It supports online and web-enhanced courses by providing a single platform for accessing course materials, submitting assignments, taking tests, viewing grades, and collaborating. All MSU students and faculty can access D2L Brightspace at https://d2l.msu.edu.

This section outlines Michigan State University's customized implementation of D2L Brightspace. While vendor documentation provides general guidance, this resource highlights the specific configurations and practices unique to MSU.

Brightspace is supported on desktop platforms, tablets, and mobile devices with the latest browser versions. Using a browser below the latest update threshold prompts the message "Your browser is looking a little retro."

The current minimum supported browser versions are:

Desktop Browsers (Mac and PC)

  • Chrome 106+ (September 2022)
  • Edge 106+ (October 2022)
  • Firefox 105+ (September 2022)
  • Safari 16+ (September 2022)

Mobile Browsers

  • Chrome 107+ on Android (October 2022)
  • Safari 16+ on iOS/iPadOS (September 2022)

For more information, see D2L's Browser support page.
