Known Issues

The following issues have been identified by the Desire2Learn Support Team based on our testing and information provided by the MSU Community. We appreciate your help in identifying these issues as we work with the vendor to provide resolution. Reviewing this list will inform you of existing issues with the system and their workarounds.

Terms to know:

Hotfix – Fix patches provided by the vendor, outside of the monthly patch cycle

Workaround – Alternate means of completing the task at hand, barring an immediate fix

Inserting a quicklink to a Content File into a Survey Feedback results in an Internal Error Message.

After linking the desired text click the HTML editor link in the lower right of the text field, looking for this symbol "</>"  Once the box opens please locate your link string:
href="{orgUnitId}&type=content&rcode=MichiganSt-455908" target="_self">.  Locate this string and change the target location. Find the word "self" and change it to "blank".

Changing "self" to "blank" will force the link to open in a new window.

05/14/2014 - 12:00 Mail is not filtered by course

D2L's mail system does not know what course you sent your mail from so there is no current way to filter your messages by course.

05/06/2014 - 13:45 Can't view multiple pages of drop box submissions for some students

When viewing X students' document, she can preview the entire document, without viewing as text or downloading it. When viewing Y's document you can only preview the first page, and has to either view as text or download it,

Using the "view as text" button within the document viewer to avoid having to download the file in order to view it -- formatting won't be maintained, so this might not be a suitable workaround for all situations.

02/13/2014 - 15:30 HTML editor crashes Internet Explorer 9

Internet Explorer 9 crashes in various areas of D2L.  We have tickets where it's crashed running Spell Checker and when viewing source code.

Behavior was not duplicated in Internet Explorer 10 or FireFox.

02/12/2014 - 10:45 Spell Checker freezes in D2L when using Chrome 32

When using the spell checker, either when adding content or creating messages, the box that normally pops up that should display errors instead loads as a white screen. The browser then freezes and you have to close the entire browser and restart, thus losing whatever content she was working on in D2L.

Select the spell-checker settings to English (United States)
