Known Issues

The following issues have been identified by the Desire2Learn Support Team based on our testing and information provided by the MSU Community. We appreciate your help in identifying these issues as we work with the vendor to provide resolution. Reviewing this list will inform you of existing issues with the system and their workarounds.

Terms to know:

Hotfix – Fix patches provided by the vendor, outside of the monthly patch cycle

Workaround – Alternate means of completing the task at hand, barring an immediate fix

09/29/2014 - 15:15 Question pool questions may not convert properly to D2L

If you create a question pool question within an ANGEL assessment and, in that question, you select a folder with subfolders, then D2L will display a random question set but it will not contain any questions. The questions will usually still appear within the D2L question library.

There are two options to resolve this issue:

1. You can go back to ANGEL and fix the question pool question so that it is not pulling from a folder with subfolders. So that all of the folders contain the questions directly and not an addtional folder with questions. Then copy the course into a new devlopement space and convert again.

2. You can add the questions from the question library to the random sections in the D2L quiz.

The grades export file is not sorted by the selected key field.

Use the sorting functionality in Excel or a similar spreadsheet editor to resort the exported file.

Duplicate calendar entires are created in the course copy process.

Dropbox and Checklist Calendar items do not copying over properly when using copy course components to copy a full course.

Go to the Dropbox tool and add the dates again so that the calendar entries are enforced.

After a course has ended, only Login History is availble for a user in the User Progress tool.

Temporarily re-open the course.  Keep in mind students will be able to access the course while it is open.

08/27/2014 - 12:45 Invalid Characters allowed in Filenames

Filenames containing invalid characters are not sanitized when uploaded to D2L.  Invalid characters within a filename can cause some functionality to break within the system.  The following characters are invalid: \ / : * ? " < > | ~ # % & + { }
